The Book and The Author - Chapter 1

This is my newest book! It's a short story and it's not quite finished yet. I hope you enjoy it! Tell me what you think in the comments!

Indeed. I must have dropped it.
That's the only logical conclusion I could come up with.
I stared down at the leather binding, wrapped tight with a lace of the same material. I decided it must be a Novel of exuberant knowledge, for as I lifted it from its uncomfortable seat on the ground its weight and size seemed to defy practicability.
"I'm sorry I dropped you" I whispered into the pages before realizing the ridiculousness of my impulsive conversation.
I am talking to a book. Why am I doing that?
I thought about it very seriously for a moment.
It must have needed the encouragement. And perhaps the apology was indeed necessary. After all, knowing how clumsy I am, I must have dropped it rather heavily.
I gave it a comfortable seat in the crook of my arm before continuing with my walk toward....... now that I think of it, I can't recall what I was in the process of doing. Was I........ No, I had done the shopping the day before. Well maybe.......... No, I also did the laundry in the same trip. Well then, I must have been on my way to visit my uncle. Why else would I be carrying such a humongous choice of text? That was it. And as I began to clack my shoes onto the street, I came up with the most brilliant idea to bring my uncle some fresh flowers from the grocer. What good is a niece if her duty is not to act as daughter, sister, and wife to a man who so desperately needs a woman in his life? Yes. The flowers would remind him of how delicate and lovely the beauty of Spring could be. And besides, it would make the air in his study less insufferable, as that was likely to be the place where he would want me to read this book to him.
This book.
Where had I exactly gotten this book?
